What is Hand & Upper Limb Therapy?
Albury Wangaratta Hand Therapy offers targeted and evidence based intervention for hand, wrist, elbow and upper arm injuries. Treatment can include wound care, splinting, casting, complete treatment planning, reviewing of radiology and exercise prescription.

Why Us?
The overarching accrediting and regulatory body of Hand Therapy is the Australian Hand Therapy Association, where the highest qualification gained is to be an Accredited Hand Therapist (AHT).

There are only 400 AHT's in the entirety of Australia and our Director, Jye Savage, is one of the few within the North East/Riverina Region.
To become an AHT you must be;

An AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist

Demonstrated an advanced level of competence in hand therapy

Undertaken over 300 hours of advanced upper-limb education and assessment; completed a one-year mentorship; and have a minimum of 3600 hours in hand therapy clinical practice

Have been assessed as qualified and competent to provide safe, evidence-based diagnosis, advice and treatment

And been awarded the credential of Accredited Hand Therapist by the Australian Hand Therapy Association Credentialing Council.
CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Arthritis
Finger, base of thumb, wrist and elbow degeneration (Rheumatoid and osteoarthritis)
Sporting Injuries
Including tennis elbow, golfers elbow and finger dislocations/mallet fingers.
Sports splints are available to help you return to sport early sooner.
Nerve Injuries
Compressions and repairs (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, brachial plexus injuries)
Complex Elbow Injuries
Ligament tears/repairs, radial head fractures, olecranon bursitis, distal bicep repairs, tricep repairs, radial head replacements and total elbow replacements.
Work Related Injuries
Workcover, TAC and CTP patient’s welcome and thorough communication provided prior to every GP/Surgeon appointment to ensure a smooth return to work.
Pain Conditions
Such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Fractures, Joint Injuries and Dislocations
Volar plate/UCL/RCL finger/thumb injuries, distal radius fractures, elbow fractures and finger dislocations - splinting, swelling control, exercise prescription and full treatment planning.
Tendon Injuries and Repairs
Extensors (mallet fingers, central slip/sagittal bands and wrist extensor) and flexors
Skin Grafts, Flaps and Post Burns
Post trauma, cancer excision or thermal/chemical burns
Post-surgical Conditions and Operations
From elective (e.g. carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release etc.) to joint replacements (Trapeziectomy’s, PIPJ/MCPJ replacements)
Amputations, Complex Trauma and Reconstructions
This can vary significantly from minor to significant
Congenital Abnormalities/Impairments
NDIS patients as needed with a clear/quick treatment plan
